This dataset contains the number of students attending different types of Massachusetts schools by town since 1985. It includes full-time students whose parents or legal guardians are residents of the city or town.

This report is required from each city and town under the provisions of Chapter 72, Section 2A of the General Laws. The information is as of January 1st of the given school year. A value of zero indicates that the city or town does not have any students enrolled in the specified type of school.

This report shows the number and rate of Massachusetts public school students in grades 11 and 12 who completed advanced coursework since 2018.

Advanced coursework includes the following: Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Project Lead the Way, dual enrollment courses, Chapter 74-approved vocational/technical secondary cooperative education programs, and other selected rigorous courses. Economically Disadvantaged was used 2015-2021. Low Income was used prior to 2015, and a different version of Low Income has been used since 2022. Please see the DESE Researcher's Guide for more information.

Advanced Course Completion Report

Count of certificates and degrees conferred by institution, award type, race, and gender.

Notes:
- Data appear as reported to the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education.
- Figures published by DHE may differ slightly from figures published by other institutions and organizations due to differences in timing of publication, data definitions, and calculation logic.
- An award is conferred to a student by a postsecondary educational institution as official recognition after their successful completion of a program of study.
- A fiscal year (FY) is 12-month period beginning July 1 and ending June 30. Because a fiscal year straddles two different calendar years, the calendar year and fiscal year will not always match. For example, FY 2025 runs from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.

This dataset provides the number and percentage Massachusetts public high school students who dropped out of high school since 2008. It also includes the percentage of dropouts by grade.

Dropout rate is calculated as the percentage of students in a given grade who dropped out of school between July 1 and June 30 prior to the listed year and who did not return to school by the following October 1. Dropouts are defined as students who leave school prior to graduation for reasons other than transfer to another school. Dropout rates are not reported for any student group where the number of students is less than 6.

Dropout Report

This dataset reports the number of students in all Massachusetts public schools who took one or more Advanced Placement (AP) exams since 2007. Results are disaggregated by test subject and student group.
