This dataset shows the percentage of students who graduated from Massachusetts public schools with a regular high school diploma within 4 or 5 years. It is a long file that contains multiple rows for each school and district, with rows for different years and different student groups.

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education collects a variety of data from schools and districts in the state. Much of the information collected is published in the School and District Profiles. A "profile" is a snapshot of the data for a specific school or district. Users can also find school and district directories.

In addition to individual profiles and directories, users can also view and download statewide data reports. The Massachusetts Education-to-Career Research and Data Hub publishes many of the statewide reports as datasets here in the public data portal. This dataset contains the total annual unduplicated enrollment headcount and percentages by race and gender for undergraduate and graduate students at public community colleges and state universities in Massachusetts since 2014.

Annual enrollment refers to a 12 month enrollment period over one fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).

CHART is designed to assist charter schools in monitoring their progress with their Recruitment and Retention Plans which includes deliberate, specific strategies the school will use to attract, to enroll, and to retain a student population that is demographically comparable to similar grades in schools from which the charter school enrolls students. It is a pair of Excel workbooks that provide multi-school, multi-year demographic comparison data in the following categories:

CHART — Enrollment
Enrollment percentages by selected populations and race.

CHART — Indicators
Attrition percentages by grade level and selected populations/race.
Student indicator statistics, including suspensions by selected population/race.

The charter schools are graphed against comparable schools in its region, the median and first quartile of the comparison schools, and the state average. For enrollment demographic indicators, where possible, a statistically-derived "Comparison Index" is also graphed to provide a comparison figure that account for the charter school's size and fluctuations in student populations that yield natural variation in school-level enrollment figures, along with a "Gap Narrowing Target", which provides reference point for progress over time.

The District Analysis and Review Tools (DARTs) turn the Department's vast amount of data into valuable, easily consumable information. The DARTs offer snapshots of district and school performance, allowing users to easily track select data elements over time, and make sound, meaningful comparisons to the state or to "comparable" organizations. The data elements in each DART tool are linked to a broader strategic framework defining the characteristics of effective educational organizations and cover a broad range of district and school interests including demographic, assessment, student support, educator, financial, and achievement gap data. The DARTs, in combination with other tools found on this website, may be utilized by district and school leaders in enacting each of the six district standards upon which district reviews, improvement planning, and other forms of accountability and assistance are based: Leadership & Governance, Curriculum & Instruction, Assessment, Human Resources & Professional Development, Student Support, and Financial & Asset Management.
