A new set of aspirational universal targets will help move public higher education in Massachusetts toward its goal of racial equity over the next decade. Learn how the targets were developed.

Undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees for each public Massachusetts institution of higher education, FY2014 - present. Rates are based on Fall, resident state-supported rates.

Weighted averages are calculated based on % undergraduate FTE of total Segment and overall. (FTE figures used for calculation are one year in arrears due to reporting schedules)

Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) and Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MCAD) are reported separately because they are specialty schools and, for the purposes of Performance Measurement, are not compared to other MA state universities.

The Performance Measurement Reporting System (PMRS) is designed to fulfill the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education’s statutory obligation to “promote accountability for effective management and stewardship of public funds and to achieve and demonstrate measurable educational outcomes” (MGL, Chapter 15a, Section 7).

This report is updated annually each spring and provides a comprehensive examination of the performance of each of Massachusetts’ community colleges and state universities on a set of key indicators focused on:

• Access & Affordability
• Student Success & Completion
• Workforce Alignment
• Fiscal Stewardship

These indicators are tracked with attention to equity gaps for underserved students wherever possible.

The metrics are foundational to assessment and accountability, having been incorporated into annual presidential evaluations, program evaluation, and campus- and system-level strategic planning, including the Strategic Plan for Racial Equity
and Strategic Public Higher Education Financing.

This data story provides information for parents, community members, and educators on how attendance, behavior, and course performance (the ABCs) in Massachusetts high schools affect post-secondary outcomes.

This report presents data and information about student preparedness for workforce and post-graduate success in Massachusetts, including high school enrollment, graduation, coursework, participation in Designated High School College and Career Pathways (After Dark, Career Connections, Career Technical Education, Early College, and Innovation Career Pathways), college attendance and persistence, and wages.
